Holy Cross Parish is pleased to launch the Advent Resource ‘Prepare a Way!’

This specially created resource, is a tool which is hoped will spiritually nourish readers throughout the days and weeks of Advent.  ‘Prepare a Way!’ offers daily reflections made up of antiphons, scripture and prayer. It also draws on Sacred Tradition, making use of traditional text such as the O Antiphons, traditionally prayed in the 8 days leading to Christmas. ‘Prepare a Way!’, also makes use of prayer such as the Litany of St. Joseph and ancient hymns such as “Creator of the Stars of Night” or as it is known in Latin, “Creator alme siderum”

The ‘O Antiphons’, 8 in total, traditionally prayed in the 8 days leading to the Solemnity of Christmas are also provided as a way for added meditation in the final octave leading to Christmas. These Antiphons have been described as a “unique work of art…filled with the Spirit of the Word of God.” ‘Prepare a Way!’ is ideal for families, who may wish to meditate on each day in a family setting by sharing around the readings or alternatively for individuals seeking an exercise to help them further contemplate the season by spending quiet time in solitude and prayer to focus deeper on each day’s scripture.

It is hoped that this resource will help add an extra layer of prayer to people’s personal preparation for Christmas.
